Nature Prints by Chris Scroggins
Chris Scroggins Photography
A professional musician for more than 30 years, Chris has embraced photography as a precious source for renewing her artistic expression.
In addition to formal training at the Rocky Mountain School of Photography in 1999, Chris has traveled extensively, photographing nature and wildlife, from the quaint corners of The National Arboretum to the wild lands of East Africa.
" I can't remember a time when music, animals and nature weren't an important part of my life- I have been a self-employed photographer for 10 years and a professional violinist for 31 years. I enjoy photographing all kinds of creatures wild and tame as well as landscapes and beautiful gardens. I hope you enjoy exploring my prints of animals, nature and the outdoors."

Artist Statement
The joy of photography lies in the challenge of capturing and sharing moments in my life when I have been inspired and awed by the beauty and mystery of the world. My goal is to convey these moments to the viewer as directly as possible in the hope that he or she will experience happiness and pleasure. I have been informed by the writings of Rachel Carson and Jane Goodall, and inspired by the paintings of Georgia O'Keefe and Henri Rousseau, the contemporary sculpture of of Andy Goldsworthy and Heather Jansch as well as the fine art nature photography of Ansel Adams, John Sexton and Clyde Butcher. Since 2008 most of my images are created with a digital camera. I use Adobe Photoshop to perform traditional photographic adjustments such as burning, dodging, cropping and tonal registration. I also use this program to transform my color images into black and white photography.
